4 Tips to Promote Yourself As A Content Writer

4 Tips to Promote Yourself As A Content Writer
By Brian Vuyk

This article has been written as a result of speaking to a content writer on IRC, who's usual method of operations was to sell her services writing articles on RentACoder.com, charging only $0.05 per word. She unfortunately was not aware of a good method to promote her writing services to a larger audience. In order to provide a potential game plan to her, and to other content writers in a similar situation who want to build their own popularity, I would suggest the following method for promoting one's service.

  • Create your own Website to Market Your Articles. This website should contain your rates, sample articles, and, if possible, references from clients whom you have done sample work for. Please note that the sample articles you create should reflect a variety of different topics, styles, and lengths to show that you are flexible enough to cover a wide variety of assignments.
  • Post in Webmaster Forums. Advertise your services in webmaster forums such as eWealth.com or DigitalPoint. There are hundreds of content-hungry webmasters who will hire you to write articles, often paying more for your work than is possible through sites such as RentACoder or Elance. In addition, because webmaster forums are often relatively tight-knit communities, your reputation can and will spread by word of mouth. A good forum reputation will cause webmasters to pursue you for your services, allowing you to charge higher prices than otherwise possible.
  • Article Marketing. One often overlooked way to reach out to potential webmasters is to write articles in your slow times, and post them to royalty-free article sites such as Free-Journal-Articles.com. Include that fact that you are a professional content writer, and link to your business site in the Author Bio box. Many webmasters use royalty-free article sites in order to find content; getting your name out to them, and presenting them with your link will bring more people into your business.
  • Market to the Big Fish. If you really think you have talent, submit your best articles to sites such as ask.com, about.com, or online newspapers. They will invariably pay better than any webmaster for quality articles. But, they only hire the best talent. You never know until you try.
  • Hopefully, these first steps should give you some idea of how to market your talents to a larger market audience. If nothing else, these steps should allow you to attract a larger, better paying client base. You have the talent to succeed; I want you to make the most of it. Content writing can be a very lucrative business if you know how to market yourself. Good luck!

Article Marketing How Much Do You Have to Vary Your Articles?

Article Marketing - How Much Do You Have to Vary Your Articles?
    By Sean Mize

If you write an article and then you re-write it, or, if you buy some Private-Label Rights article online. How much do you have to re-write it?

The problem with re-writing articles is: if I give you a specific percentage that Google (or any of the other search-engines) are using as their percentage of content that's different in order for them to call it original and then you start writing to that number, what happends when, six months later, Google, or whatever other search-engine you want your articles to be indexed at, changes that number and moves it up. Because now they have the ability to improve that number and to force you to write more original content.

Let's say you've written two-hundred articles and you're getting two-hundred subscribers per month from those articles. Your average subscriber is worth ten or twenty dollars in life-time earnings to you.

That's four-thousand dollars worth of income per month that you've created over the next six months. You're up to four-thousand dollars per month in income. That's forty-eight thousand dollars per year. And then, Google changes that formula and you lose all of that inbound traffic. You're going to hate me for giving you a number. You're going to be angry at yourself for re-writing those articles.

Here's what I say: start with a blank slate every single day and write some articles. Speaking of that, set the time aside every single day to write articles. One hour, every single day. When you first get started, it may take you an hour to write an article. That's OK. I write about seven articles per hour now. I can sit down in an hour or two and write ten, or fifteen, or twenty articles and submit them.
